पुस्तक के लेखक ओमप्रकाश चौहान का जन्म 10 जनवरी, 1952 को दिल्ली में हुआ था। इनके पिता का नाम (स्व.) श्री रेवती लाल चौहान एवं माता का नाम (स्व.) श्रीमती भगवती देवी है। इन्होंने सीनियर सुपरिटेंडेंट, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय विमान प्राधिकरण, भारत सरकार, आई.जी.आई., दिल्ली के पद पर रहते हुए अवकाश प्राप्त किया। साहित्य-सृजन, अभिनय एवं नाटक निर्देशन में इनकी गहन रुचि रही है। नाटक 'मैली हवेली' का इन्होंने दो बार (1981 एवं 1982) मंचन किया। सन् 1982 से 1995 तक ये नेशनल एयरपोर्ट अथॉर्टी ऑफ इंडिया की हिन्दी पत्रिका 'चेतना' की संपादकीय परिषद के सदस्य रहे। उस पत्रिका में इनकी कई लघु कहानियाँ और कविताएँ प्रकाशित हुईं। सन् 1982 में लेखक ने रिलिना फिल्म्स की फिल्म 'बाँहों के घेरे में' के लिए स्क्रीन प्ले एवं डायलॉग लिखे। सन् 1983-84 में साहित्य कला परिषद् द्वारा आयोजित अखिल भारतीय नाटक लेखन प्रतियोगिता में भी इनकी भागीदारी रही। साथ ही, अन्य दो नाटक 'मैला आदमी' एवं कॉप उठा संसार' भी सर्वत्र चर्चित व प्रशंसित हुए।

काव्य संग्रह "अनुभूतियाँ" के रचयिता एक वरिष्ठ एवं अनुभवी चिंतक हैं। वर्ष 1973 में स्नातक हो जाने के बाद वर्ष 1974 में उन्होंने अपनी आजीविका के लिए एक राष्ट्रीयकृत बैंक में नौकरी शुरू कर ली। वहाँ पर वर्षों के सेवाकाल ने उनके अनुभवों की पूंजी को काफी समृद्ध किया।
उनका मानना है कि उनकी काव्य रचना की शुरुआत एक संयोग से हुई जब रेलगाड़ी में यात्रा करते हुए उन्होंने जीवन की पहली कविता लिखी। उसके उपरांत एक जागरूक एवं चिंतक नागरिक के नाते समय-समय पर जो भी विचार उनके मन-मस्तिष्क में आते गए उन पर वे अपनी लेखनी चलाते चले गए जो उनकी वर्तमान रचना 'अनुभूतियाँ' के रूप में हमारे सम्मुख है। -

किसी के सुख की, किसी के दुःख की, किसी की साँसें, धड़कन की। जीवन की धूप-छाँव, उतार-चढ़ाव प्रतिबिम्ब पुस्तक।। कुछ बातों ने, कुछ लोगों ने, कुछ समस्याओं ने दी दस्तक। मेरे शब्दों में आकर के, बनी है मेरी ये पुस्तक।। सुस्वागतम, सुअभिनन्दन, मेरी रचनाएँ जीवन दर्शन। मेरी रूह के अहसासों से, लिखी है मैंने ये पुस्तक।। जब भी कोई लेखक अपनी लेखनी उठाता है, तो कागज पर उतरने वाले प्रत्येक कथानक में उसके जीवन के अनुभव अपने आप अपना स्वरूप धारण करने लगते हैं। प्रस्तुत पुस्तक 'रूह से' भी लेखिका के जीवन के अनुभवों का एक जीता-जागता दस्तावेज है। लेखिका के अनुसार इस पुस्तक के कुछ अंशों को छोड़कर शेष सभी घटनाएँ व पात्र काल्पनिक हैं। यह पुस्तक निश्चित रूप से कहीं न कहीं आपके जीवन को स्पर्श करती हुई सी प्रतीत होगी। इस पुस्तक की लेखिका नीलम रानी गुप्ता का जन्म 2 अक्टूबर 1968 को दनकौर (नौएडा) में श्री हरिओम गुप्ता व श्रीमती कमला रानी के घर हुआ था। इन्होंने आगरा कॉलेज, आगरा से जन्तु विज्ञान में एम.एस.सी. की उपाधि प्राप्त की है। लेखन के क्षेत्र में प्रस्तुत कहानी संग्रह 'रूह से' इनकी प्रथम रचना है। इनके दादाजी श्री गोकल चन्द, निवासी दनकौर (नौएडा) इनके मूल प्रेरणा स्रोत रहे हैं तथा अपनी यह पुस्तक इन्होंने अपने दादाजी को ही समर्पित की है।
