इस्लाम का अर्थ है- ईश्वर एवं शान्ति के प्रति पूर्ण समर्पण । मुसलमान का अर्थ है खुदा एवं उसकी खुदाई के प्रति पूरे ईमान के साथ पेश आना एवं ईमानदारी के साथ आचरण करना । लेकिन इस्लाम के उदय के बाद अब तक कुछ राजनीतिक, आक्रामक एवं निहित स्वार्थ के लिए लोगों ने अपने गलत मंसूबों को अंजाम देने के लिए इस्लाम का इतना गलत एवं बेतरतीब इस्तेमाल किया कि उसकी मूल परिभाषा ही बदल गयी तथा अवाम के सामने इसकी ऐसी आभासी छवि बन गई जिसका हकदार इस्लाम कदापि नहीं है। इस्लाम की परिभाषा द्वारा स्थापित मान्यताएँ एवं मानदंड किसी सुल्तान या मुसलमान को यह इजाजत नहीं देते कि वे इंसानियत को तबाह कर अपने स्वार्थजनित लालचपूर्ण मंसूबों को अंजाम देने के लिए इस्लाम का दुरुपयोग करें। पुस्तक के लेखक श्री शम्भू प्रसाद सिंह का जन्म 20-12-1948 को बिहार प्रांत के पूर्वी चम्पारण जिले के मच्छरगाँवा ग्राम में हुआ था। इनके पिता का नाम राजेश्वर प्रसाद सिंह एवं माता का नाम राहांता देवी है। इन्होंने इलेक्ट्रिकल इंजीनियरिंग की डिग्री बिहार विश्वविद्यालय के एम.आई.टी. से 1971-72 में हासिल की तथा उसी वर्ष सितम्बर में सेल बोकारो स्टील प्लांट में नौकरी शुरू की तथा स्टील प्लांट के विभिन्न संकायों एवं इकाइयों में सफलतापूर्वक जिम्मेदारियों का निर्वहन करते हुए दिसम्बर 2008 में सेवानिवृत्त हुए तथा झारखंड प्रांत के बोकारो स्टील सिटी के सेक्टर 12-बी में स्थायी रूप से निवास कर रहे हैं। इलेक्ट्रिकल इंजीनियरिंग के अतिरिक्त इनकी विशेष रुचि इतिहास, दर्शन-शास्त्र, खगोल-शास्त्र, पर्यावरण संरक्षण एवं खेल में रही जिसने इनको कई पुस्तकों की रचना के लिए प्रेरित किया। -
